About

Displaced Index tracks what AI is actually doing to jobs, using open data and graded evidence instead of headlines.

Every week brings a new claim that AI is replacing workers - and another that it isn't. Both are often thin. We put three kinds of evidence side by side for each occupation and company: announced job cuts linked to AI, graded on how well the claim holds up; live hiring data from the UK and US; and how much of each job's work AI is measurably doing today.

Principles

  • Data first. Every number links to a source; every grade has a written rationale.
  • Not doom. Exposure is not job loss, and a layoff blamed on AI may have other causes. We say so.
  • Open. The ledger is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0.
  • Independent. Any future advertising or affiliate links will be clearly labelled and will never influence grades or data. None exist today.

Corrections

If an entry is wrong, or a company has re-hired for roles it said AI replaced, we want to know. Corrections are logged and grades are re-dated when changed.
